Specialist Sub-Group: Detention

The ARC Detention Sub-Group meets monthly in London with representatives from a wide range of NGOs. While asylum seekers continue to be detained the group works to monitor and improve the conditions in which they are kept. We exchange information and coordinate our various work on the behalf of detainees.

Participants include: Association of Visitors to Immigration Detainees; Asylum Welcome; BID; Churches Commission for Racial Justice; Detention Advisory Service; Gatwick Detainees Welfare Group; Haslar Visitors Group; ILPA; Jesuit Refugee Service; Joint Council for the Welfare of Immigrants; London Detainee Support Group; Medical Foundation for the Care of Victims of Torture; The Refugee Council; Refugee Legal Service and UNHCR note.
